This role is to support the facility in safely and efficiently meet both internal and external customer demand. It requires a continuous improvement mindset, ability to collaborate with both the site as well as satellite teams on meeting or exceeding their goals. It requires planning, executing and coaching team members as needed. Using automation and general engineering principles, optimize the process through data capture and analysis.
-Input for design or development of new process control systems; developing and coordinating implementation of CertainWay (CI) projects which contribute substantially to plant profitability; implementation and support of PLC-based control systems; support for and utilization of PC-based supervisory control systems/SCADA to prepare and coordinate operational information and data for the plant management and project teams; support of data communications networks and instrumentation within the plant.
-Planning, evaluating, organizing and implementing automation related projects and initiatives to achieve the team's objectives. Has latitude for independent judgment and discretion to execute primary objectives within established policies, procedures and practices. Secures prior approval for unusual or out of policy actions.
-Internal contacts and external contacts will include all Palatka employees, CertainTeed satellite technical team and vendors as needed.
-Develops and maintains standard operating procedures, work instructions, P&ID diagrams as part of new equipment / process changes
-Uses advanced PLC / Controls to reduce process variations in conjunction with the process and production engineers
-Analyzes operating problems, develop solutions and leads with implementation of corrective action from a controls standpoint
-Provides weekly status reports of projects to Plant Management
-Performs other related duties and responsibilities as needed and / or requested by management
-May consult with and/or assist other CertainTeed Gypsum North American plants on issues
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
-Five or more years of applied professional industrial troubleshooting, design, and installation of PC based supervisory, PLC based control systems, power distribution, hardware and wiring
-Five or more years of hands on work in the plant manufacturing floor
-A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education and experience required
-Must be capable of preparing calculations, specifications and drawings to meet design requirements.
-A comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and regulations associated with process control technology is essential
