Our Associate Recruiting Program is an intensive 8-week Training Program that sets professionals up for a successful career in recruiting. The program covers all aspects of full-desk, agency recruiting – from business development, client relationship management and sales to sourcing, screening and negotiating. Through rigorous training exercises, coaching and mentorship, Associate Recruiters are able to hone their recruiting skills and gain the confidence they need to excel as an Executive Recruiter. Many of the AR Program graduates go on to become top billers at CyberCoders.
We asked several AR Program Graduates to answer a few questions about the program to help people interested get a better idea of what to expect. Here’s what they said.
Describe your experience in the AR 8-week Training Program.
“I had a great experience in the AR Training Program. I started the program fresh out of school so it was great opportunity to get an understanding of the industry, learn the fundamentals of recruiting/sales, and ramp up my business before actually hitting the floor. Sarah and Dani [our Talent Development Manager and Training Manager] did a great job of getting us out of our comfort zone and holding us to a high standard so it was not a shock when getting out on the floor.”
- Luke Pulliam
“I was in a new environment trying to be the best at something I had never done. It’s fun, informative, and also quite a humbling experience.”
- Meaghan Curran
“It was challenging but so rewarding. I am glad I stuck it out. . . . The training really helped mold me as a recruiter.”
- Andrea Montejano
How did the program set you up for success as a recruiter?
“I think it set me up for success as a recruiter because it gave me the proper understanding and knowledge of how the entire cycle of recruiting works and it allowed me to gain hands on experience with the entire process. I really liked how we were pushed out of our comfort zone, challenged to really explore and discover where our strengths and weaknesses lie, and from there we were encouraged to work as hard as we could to be the best that we could be.”
- Dominique Jackson
“We learned the basics that some people don’t learn when they first start. Although it seemed tedious, it helped me create a routine once I got out on the floor.”
- Andrea Montejano
“The most valuable thing I learned was to not get discouraged. You deal with a lot of rejection and up and downs in this job, no matter how good of a recruiter you are. The ones who get discouraged typically don’t last, and the ones who keep fighting and stay positive have a lot of success here.”
- Luke Pulliam
What was the best part of the program?
“Having co-workers who were on the same level as you were. No competition. Everyone was just trying to grind and motivate each other to do better.”
- Andrea Montejano
“Definitely being able to work hard and learn the craft with people in similar situations as me. Our AR group became good friends throughout the program and remain so today, which being in a new area and in my first job was important to me.”
- Luke Pulliam
“It has to be the challenges/competitions. My favorite part was probably the contract negotiation challenge that we did. It was about maneuvering the objections while providing solutions. We were able to jump in if someone took too long to answer, stumbled, etc. . . . It was a lot of fun negotiating live, rather than using a script.”
- Meaghan Curran
Why would you recommend the program to a friend?
“Some of the most successful and largest billers at CC came from our training program. It gives you the time to try and build a pipeline while you are learning all the terminology. . . . . There is a safety net and ample help when you are approaching a problem. It sets up a workflow/work ethic. It’s also given me to the opportunity to be successful on the floor because I had a good framework of Recruiting, Cyrus [our proprietary Applicant Tracking System] and Sales.”
- Meaghan Curran
“I would recommend the program to anyone looking for a challenging and rewarding career path because this program pushes you.”
- Dominique Jackson
“It’s a great opportunity to learn the craft and develop business without risk. Many jobs throw you in right away without training and you are basically drowning the first few months before things start to click. The training program allows you to develop a solid foundation without any pressure of closing deals before you hit the floor so you can hit the ground running once you’re put on a team.”
- Luke Pulliam
What advice would you give to someone who's interested in the program?
“It’s going to be challenging, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Find the value in what you do. Understand that you are helping people find better jobs, that is so valuable! And don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions, the program is here to help jumpstart your career, but you have to turn the key.”
- Meaghan Curran
“My biggest pieces of advice for someone interested in the program would be to not be afraid to ask questions and to really be willing to put in the work in order to get the most out of the program. I personally came into the program with a positive attitude and was ready to give it my all from day one. It obviously wasn’t easy by any means . . . but I learned so much and I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned now being on the floor as an Executive Recruiter.”
- Dominique Jackson
“My advice would be to do it. It’s an opportunity to get paid while you are learning and building a book of business, with essentially no risk. I’ve made more money in my first quarter out of the training program than I would have in a whole year in any other job I would have taken out of school and there’s no way that would have happened without the training program.”
- Luke Pulliam
