Have you met Executive Recruiter Alyssa Salehi, one of CyberCoders' Rockstar Recruiters?
Alyssa is a dedicated recruiter who is speedy and efficient and works hard for her clients and candidates. "My previous team nicknamed me Honey Badger after watching a video of one of these determined little creatures break into a full bee hive to get at the honey. It probably was stung over a hundred times but this did not deter the Honey Badger, it didn’t care…I will be just as tenacious," says Alyssa.
1. Tell us about an exciting job match you made recently?
Hmm…they’re all exciting. Most recently, I placed an EE for a consumer electronics company that was having a very difficult time finding talent due to their location. Great company, just not located in a central technology hub. I found them a great match and they were beyond happy. My EE was also really appreciative, in fact he had been looking to make a change for quite some time but just hadn’t taken the initial step to start his search.
2. What drives you to go above and beyond?
Motivated clients. When I speak to someone and they’re very serious with urgent needs I really up my game (working all weekend at times if that is the level of support they need). I think most people work well under pressure. The search itself at times can also be the driving force; Being able to find the exact match to the skills, culture, and other reqs (industry/location/salary/title) as well as having to do so for both parties (matching the client’s needs to that of the candidate’s needs). Ultimately, my job at times feels like a very complex puzzle being put together one piece at a time. When it’s completed, it’s quite rewarding for everyone and the start of a new journey for many.
3. What do you think separates CyberCoders from the average recruiting firm?
Our platform with millions of candidates and a realtime system that identifies new candidates (relevant to my search) that may be working with one of my 350 colleagues.
4. What is your favorite part about being a recruiter?
Making a difference in the lives of others. I’m literally helping some people get their dream jobs. My job is quite rewarding in that light. Also I’m really interested in the industries I work. I picked them for a reason. As a result I’m able to gain knowledge about a lot of my interests and keep to date with the latest technologies.
5. Tell us a bit about what industries and positions you recruit for.
Industries: IoT, Consumer Electronics, Robotics, Medical Devices, EVs, VR, and Aerospace (UAVs/UGVs/Electronic Warfare/Electrooptics).
Positions: HW, FW, EE’s, and on the SW side primarily engineers focused around AI, ML, DL, Computer Vision, Embedded, and Robotics.
6. What are your favorite hobbies or activities outside of the office?
The standard answer: beach time, riding bikes, movies, and I’m a big time foodie! The not so standard answer: baby kitties, jiu jitsu, mystery crime subscriptions, sailing, and not sure if I mentioned baby kitties.
