So, tell us about a time you've placed a great candidate recently.

I had a bit of a challenge on a recent successful placement.  My client asked for a guy, via email, who is “an expert with magnets." I had done a placement with this client in the past but they were traveling and non-responsive after I asked for a few more details.

I took a bit of time to research the company’s flagship product and sent over a few guys for review.  They responded immediately to one candidate I presented but he was 300 miles away and they wanted to set up an in-person interview the next day.

The client told me this was the guy with the perfect background, so I told the candidate I would pay for his hotel room if he drove out there and got the job, which he did. Now I have a very stoked candidate and a super happy client!

I would rather take a calculated risk to move the process along, such as paying for a hotel room on short notice, than play the waiting game.  I’m willing to go the extra mile to make a match because, in most cases, timing is one of the most important parts of the deal.
