We primarily assist clients who reside in neighborhoods experiencing rapid gentrification, where many residents and small business owners are dealing with displacement and harassment issues. Due to growth and demand, we are looking to add a Staff Attorney to our expanding team.

Who You Are:
- Admission to the Bar of the State of New York
- Juris Doctor Degree from an American Bar Association-Accredited Law School
- Knowledge of motion practice, discovery, depositions, communication with clients, negotiations with opposing counsel and advocacy with outside agencies on behalf of clients
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Bilingual Spanish/English is highly preferred
What You Will Be Doing?
- Working with clients in the Nonprofit Sector, Low-Income Tenant Groups - Affordable Housing, Prevent Evictions, Tenant Harassment/Discrimination, Ensure Working Families, Individuals, Older Adults, and Others Live in Stable Environments
- An understanding of the City's housing market and/or experience in housing law practice
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with client/tenants of different races, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations in a multicultural environment
- Ability to work independently with strong motivation, to manage a high caseload, to meet deadlines, and to be flexible
- Collaborate as needed with program managers and development team to write narrative reports for grant and contracts
- Attend meetings, and perform administrative tasks related to the work, such as timekeeping and case notes
